A TEESSIDE jobs team has been awarded for helping people back to work.
Hartlepool Action Team for Jobs has won the national Public Servants of the Year Awards 2006.
The team, which is part of Jobcentre Plus, was recognised for its approach in helping local people into work.
This included using a mobile unit to visit 30 venues in Hartlepool to deliver job-seeking services to the community, as well as having a permanent stand in the local shopping centre.
Lesley Strathie, chief executive of Jobcentre Plus, said: "I am immensely proud of the Hartlepool Action Team for Jobs, who have made a tremendous contribution to the local community by helping over 2000 people into work over the last two years.
"Their success is a tribute to their hard work, commitment and the innovative approach that has been adopted."
