EIGHT police officers took to their bikes to raise more than £1,600 in memory of a colleague who died of leukaemia.
The North Yorkshire team, led by Police Community Support Officer Chris Coleman, cycled 138 miles from Whitehaven to Sunderland in three days to raise the funds for the Leukaemia Research Fund.
Every year, members of the Harrogate police team have raised money in memory of friend and colleague Sergeant Chris Nunns, who lost his battle against the illness in May 1999.
This year's sponsor money is to be divided between the Leukaemia Research Fund and St Michael's Hospice in Harrogate.
PCOS Coleman led colleagues Alison Gill, Steve Mosey, Richard Greenwood, Jane Allan, Nick Widdowson, Paul Stephenson and Dave Ellis from the west coast to the east coast.
He said: "It all went to plan, though the second day was the most difficult. We renamed Hartside Pass, between Penrith and Alston, Heartstop Pass because of the hills.
"We were very pleased with the amount we raised and I am already planning next year's ride. It will be a coasts-and-castles bike ride from Newcastle to Edinburgh."
