STEVE TONKS, managing director of Hertel UK, in Middlesbrough, has joined the board of directors of the Aspire campaign.
Aspire is a culture change programme aiming to build links between companies and education in the region, led by the Confederation of British Industry and the North East Chamber of Commerce. Hertel is establishing links with schools, creating a career path for young people to go into skilled trades.
Aspire executive director Deborah Carrington said: "We are delighted that Steve has agreed to join our board of directors.
As one of the region's key employers, Hertel is playing an integral role in raising the awareness of the employment opportunities available to young people in the North-East, and should be used as an example to other companies."
