MARATHON stars Tracey Morris and Liz Yelling are to compete in the North-East's Great Women's Run.
The British Olympians will line up with hundreds of women in the inaugural 10km race, which will be held at Seaburn and Roker, along Wearside's coastline, on Sunday, June 25.
The Great Women's Run, in association with Cancer Research UK, is a new addition to the Great Run calendar, which includes the Bupa Great North Run.
It is open to women aged 15 and over of all abilities, and almost 2,000 people have signed up so far.
The scenic 10km route will start and finish at Seaham and will include a run around Cliffe Park, a short stretch on the beach and a section along Roker Pier.
The day will begin with the first Tesco Junior Great Coastal Run -a 2.8km course for those aged eight to 14.
