THE families and friends of children at a village school had the chance to taste fairly traded food.

Pupils at Kelloe Primary School spent the week learning about the Fairtrade movement and how, under other trading arrangements, producers often receive little for what they grow.

Yesterday, the school held a sampling day to try things such as coffee, chocolate and fruit

Headteacher Carol Mustacs said that the pupils found out about different countries, their geography and climates.
