WORK has started on filling-in an unpopular subway under the A167 Durham Road in Gateshead.
The crossing, near Cedars Green, in Harlow Green, will be replaced with a light-controlled pedestrian crossing over the Durham Road.
Work is scheduled to last between eight and ten weeks and will cost around £120,000.
