A FOOTBALL league to test the skills of Northallerton school teams was hosted by Allertonshire School.
The Town Schools Football League was held over three consecutive Tuesdays before the Easter break.
All the matches were keenly contested, but the eventual winners were Applegarth Primary School, which went unbeaten with four wins over rivals from Romanby, Brompton, Mill Hill and Broomfield.
The school received the winners' trophy and Applegarth pupils Oliver Lowther and Daniel Casey were the league's top scorers, with seven and six goals respectively. Oliver received a medal for being the top scorer.
Romanby Primary School were the runners-up with three wins, and pupil James Coatsworth scored six goals.
The team spirit award was won by Mill Hill Primary School, while Broomfield won the fair play award. Both schools received a certificate from the Thirsk Area Sports Partnership.
Certificates were presented to all pupils who took part and the tournament was hailed a great success.
Special thanks went to Aaron Ramsbottom, Jonathan Lowther, Jamie Gledhill, Dominic Ayton and Shaun Lambert, from Allertonshire's year nine, who volunteered to referee and help run the league.
