STUDENTS swapped the lecture hall for the football pitch yesterday as they went head to head in a charity tournament.
Students from the University of Teesside, in Middlesbrough, organised the football competition to kick-start their fundraising for Cancer Research UK's Bobby Moore Fund.
Sixteen teams competed in the knock-out competition at the university's Olympia astro-turf site, in Southfield Road.
Third year leisure management student Ross Barber, 24, helped organise the event, known as the University of Teesside Tavern Cup Football Tournament.
He said: "We organised the tournament as part of our course and we wanted to raise money at the same time for a really good cause.
"It went perfectly. We have probably raised between £200 and £250.
"We felt that supporting the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK would be a good way to combine love of football with raising money for a cause that everyone can relate to."
