Walks to raise charity funds: THE Redcar and District Friends of Cancer Research UK will hold two sponsored walks on July 2.

There will be two routes - one of about four-and-a-half miles, the other of eight to nine miles. The rambles start at Newton under Roseberry. Anyone interested is asked to call (01297) 634571 or (01642) 481003.

ALZHEIMER'S TALK: John Canham, from the Alzheimer's Society, will give a talk at the next meeting of the Cleveland Retired Men's Association, on Wednesday, May 31, in the Coatham Road Social Club, Redcar, from 9.45am. The talk starts at 10.30am.

Saltburn SALE: The Saltburn Community and Arts Association will hold its next table-top sale on Saturday, in the community hall, from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.

MUSICAL EVENT: St Peter's Church, in Redcar, will play host to a musical evening in memory of Linda Short and in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief, on Saturday, June 10, at 7pm. Tickets, priced £4, are available from the vicar or at the door.

COFFEE MORNING: Guisborough Cruse Bereavement will hold a coffee morning on Saturday, from 9am to noon, at Sunnyfield House, Guisborough.
