ENGINEERING services group Amec said yesterday that trading remained in line with expectations as it gears up to sell part of its business.
The proposed sale of Amec's Spie division is expected in the next two months.
Yesterday, chief executive Sir Peter Mason told shareholders at Amec's annual meeting the board expected an attractive profit on the sale after a number of bids.
He said that a better than expected performance in the engineering and technical services, and oil and gas businesses, had been offset by disappointing trading in the UK construction services business.
He said: "Our major markets are generally strong and we remain on track to deliver overall performance this year in line with our earlier expectations."
Amec employs about 400 people in Darlington in its industrial and support services divisions
