YOUNGSTERS with speech problems are being helped to make themselves understood.
The Friends of the Friarage Hospital has given five pieces of communication aid equipment to students at the Dales School in Northallerton.
The equipment, known as a Liblaptop, is a basic laptop computer designed to give children with speech problems another way to communicate.
Speech and language specialist Alison Galvin said: "We now have ten of these aids in the Dales School, five of which were donated by the Friends of the Friarage for specific children with varying degrees of disability.
"Although each item costs £185 to purchase individually, we were able to negotiate a discount on a multiple purchase and by allocating them to specific children we also managed to save paying the VAT, which is a big help."
