AN orienteering club has won a national title - a year after being runner-up in the same competition.
Cleveland Orienteering Klub (Clok) has been named as the 2006 British Orienteering Club of the Year.
The trophy and a £300 cheque were presented to club officials at the British Orienteering Federation annual meeting last month.
Mike Hardy, who is in charge of development at the club, said: "Our strengths were the major programme of developing the sport in schools and the programme bringing juniors from novice level to compete at regional, national and international level."
This year, the club has already won a national relay competition, and achieved honours at an international event in Germany.
Mr Hardy said: "We were really pleased to win. It recognises a lot of work done by the volunteers in the club."
Clok covers Cleveland, South Durham and parts of North Yorkshire.
