A SCHEME to create more car parking in Northallerton will get under way on Monday.
The £50,000 project will create another 21 spaces at Hambleton Forum, in the town centre.
Motorists are being warned there will be disruption during the work, which is likely to last six weeks.
There will be a loss of 19 short-stay bays, including three disabled bays, during the work. Temporary disabled spaces will be allocated at the Forum and long and short-stay parking is available in the Applegarth and Crosby Road car parks.
The district council scheme is the first part of the authority's car parking strategy which sought to find more parking spaces in the district to meet increased needs.
Staff at Hambleton Forum said extra bays could be created by removing the central grassed area and footpaths as well as relining parts of the long-stay area.
