AN environmental charity has been awarded a grant to help teach youngsters how to grow and cook organic food.
The Clow Beck Centre, based in Croft, North Yorkshire, has received £6,381 from the York and North Yorkshire Community Foundation's Local Network Fund.
The money will be used to run a Mud Club for aspiring young gardeners from nearby schools.
The club meets every Wednesday after school during the summer term.
The children learn the basics of growing organic vegetables and composting. Each child is responsible for planning and developing areas of the vegetable beds and when their projects bear fruit, they learn how to prepare healthy, organic meals.
The youngsters can take leftover produce home to share with their families.
Children from Croft Primary School, North and South Cowton Primary School and Darlington Education Village have signed up and spaces are still available.
To get involved, call (01325) 721778.
