A BIRTHDAY girl is hoping for a star-studded Oscar-style party as she embarks on a celebrity challenge.

Andrea Watson's dreams could come true if the likes of Robbie Williams, Madonna and Ant and Dec walk down the red carpet and into her 30th birthday bash on May 27.

Friends have set her the challenge of receiving birthday cards or messages of best wishes from 30 famous people - or one better - for them to turn up to her cocktail do to mark her big day.

Miss Watson, who lives in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, said: "Me and my friend spend hours on the phone chatting and we are always coming up with stupid challenges for each other. We were talking about who to invite to my party and I was joking, saying Robbie Williams, so my friend said 'I will bet you to get 30 famous birthday cards'. So I said 'yes you're on'."

Friends and family have made suggestions about who to invite. The list includes the cast of EastEnders, David Walliams and Matt Lucus, Fern Britton and Philip Schofield, Harry Hill and Middlesbrough singers Andy and Carl Pemberton, from Journey South.

The birthday wishes are already coming in, with replies from comedian Dave Gorman and Century radio football presenters The Three Legends - Bernie Slaven, Eric Gates and Malcolm MacDonald.

Miss Watson, a part-time actress, is holding out for an appearance from Robbie Williams.

She said: "If he did turn up I would probably faint."
