SHELTERED accommodation for pensioners has celebrated its silver anniversary.
Delight Court, at Dipton, was built by Derwentside District Council in 1981 and the anniversary was marked by the planting of a shrub by Reg Ord, the Independent Derwentside District and Durham County councillor for the village.
Coun Ord said: "They asked the people who live in the court who they wanted to do the planting and they said me.
"Delight Court is right in the centre of the village and it accommodates a good number of older people from the area. It has a nice friendly, atmosphere and the people get on well together. It is exactly what an older person's home should be. It is run by a warden.''
