CHILDREN at a Teesside nursery helped a bakery celebrate National Bread Week when they took their teddies along to a spring picnic.
Instead of their usual afternoon snack, the youngsters at the Rainbow Day Nursery, in Imperial Avenue, Stockton, enjoyed a sunshine picnic with their favourite cuddly toy last week.
Warburtons bakery supplied sandwiches and prizes for games, such as musical statues and pass the parcel.
Also taking part in the event was children's entertainer Aunty Pat who kept the youngsters occupied with puppets and balloons.
Michelle McCormack, who works at the Warburtons bakery in Stockton, said: "We celebrate National Bread Week every year, and this year the theme was picnics.
"It highlights the goodness of bread, its importance to a healthy diet and the vital part it plays in our lives.
"We were delighted when the Rainbow Day Nursery agreed to hold a teddy bears' picnic for us and, as a thank you, we gave them £1 for every teddy there.
"Well, word must have got around, because 100 of them turned up."
Nursery assistant principal Emma Hartley said: "We had a lovely afternoon thanks to Warburtons."
