Darlington Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a 20-year-old woman was indecently assaulted.
The assault happened at the junction of Whinbush Way and Welbeck Avenue, in Darlington, during the early hours of Saturday.
The woman had been dropped off by a taxi and was approached by an unknown male, who tried to talk to her.
As the woman started to walk away, she was indecently assaulted.
During the incident, the woman's mobile phone rang and the suspect ran off in the direction of Fryer Crescent, pursued by the woman's brother who had arrived on the scene.
The suspect is white, between 30 and 40, about 5ft 8ins with short hair, dark trousers and a white hooded top.
Investigators want to trace the taxi driver and are appealing for witnesses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 0845 60 60 365 and ask for the duty inspector at Darlington Police.
