A WOMAN with a debilitating condition is showing her gratitude by raising money for the clinic which is treating her.
Susan Heald, from West Auckland, suffers from abdominal adhesions - a chronically painful condition caused by scar tissue - and is organising a fundraising event for Darlington Pain Clinic, which is based at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
The clinic provides alternative therapies, including reiki and aromatherapy, as well as medical laser pens.
The money will buy equipment so that more people can be treated in the room at the same time.
Mrs Heald, who has been treated for the condition for eight years, said: "The help and reassurance I receive from the clinic staff is phenomenal. Without their help, life would be very miserable indeed."
She has organised a fashion and beauty event on Wednesday, May 24, at the Darlington Hospital Social Club, where Darlington College fashion students are putting on a catwalk show. Beauty students will demonstrate make-up techniques. Darlington's Stagecoach Theatre and Arts School will perform.
The organisers are looking for sponsors for a compere or DJ, raffle and auction prizes, volunteers for sponsored body-waxing, table decorations and contributions towards a hamper.
A signed Darlington football shirt will be up for auction.
For tickets or to offer help, contact Mrs Heald on (01388) 832291 or the Pain Clinic at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
