A BURGLAR has been spared a jail sentence after admitting breaking into a garage.
Mark Hadfield, 29, of Wynyard Road, Hartlepool, was found inside a garage in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, on April 6 by the owner of the property.
He and an accomplice pushed past the landlord and drove off in a van. However, he was later arrested when police traced the vehicle's registration number.
At Northallerton Magistrates' Court yesterday, Hadfield admitted one charge of burglary and another of failing to surrender.
He was given a 14-week sentence, suspended for one year.
He was also handed a one-year supervision order and a four- month curfew.
The accomplice has never been traced.
