THREE INJURED: THREE people have been injured after a car accident. Police are appealing for information after the collision at the A171 T-junction with the B1366 to Liverton, near Saltburn.
The incident happened at about 8.10am on Wednesday when a green Vauxhall Omega was involved in an accident with a black BMW.
The 60-year-old Omega driver was airlifted to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he was treated for a fractured pelvis, rib and spine injuries. His 58-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with abdominal injuries. The 36-year-old BMW driver was taken to Whitby Hospital and treated for bruises to his chest and a fractured sternum. BRIT CHECKS: Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's register office is now authorised to check that applications for British nationality are completed correctly. Documents will be certified locally and copies sent to the Home Office. The service started this week on an appointment basis at the office in Westgate, Guisborough, and is available to people who live outside the borough. The service is on (01287) 632564.
APPEAL MADE: A man who had to jump out of the way of a pick-up truck is being urged to call police. The man was walking across Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, at about 3.25am yesterday when he had to jump to avoid the silver Ford Ranger. Police pursued the vehicle through, Linthorpe, Nunthorpe and into Guisborough, where a 30-year-old man was arrested. Anyone with information is asked to call (01642) 303126.
SHIRT WIN: Jimmy Lawson, from Saltburn, has won the shirt worn by Boro striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink during the game against Basle in the Uefa Cup quarter-final. Saltburn Football and Cricket Club raffled the shirt, raising about £1,000 for club funds.
