TWO men have admitted their part in a stabbing during a row over the attentions of a young woman.
George Tumilty stabbed a 17-year-old male youth once, while Leighton Hackett drove him to the scene, mounting a pavement in the process.
The pair, both 21 and from Sunderland, were said to have been involved in the incident in Seaham, County Durham, on January 6.
Tumilty, of St Leonard's Street, Hendon, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, while Hackett, of Hylton Road, admitted dangerous driving, in Railway Street, Seaham. He denied a charge of wounding with intent.
Ron Mitchell, prosecuting, said the pleas were acceptable on the basis that Hackett drove to the scene and Tumilty then got out of the car, chased and stabbed the teenager in the stomach.
The victim also suffered head injuries, possibly from when he fell to the ground during the attack.
Sentencing was adjourned until next month and the pair were remanded in custody.
