YOUNGSTERS at a village primary school and their parents were given a taste of some healthy food and shown how to prepare it by a top chef.
Mark Earnden, from healthy food promotion company Expo Chef, visited Kirk Merrington Primary School on Friday.
Mr Earnden gave demonstrations of easily prepared and healthy foods and talked about making attractive, appetising meals, which children and adults sampled.
The show was hands-on and interactive, with children working with the chef to make quick nutritious meals.
Inspired by the event, pupils are now putting together a newsletter about healthy living to send home to the parents in the next few weeks.
Headteacher Helen Williams said: "The children gained valuable knowledge, experience and understanding of having a healthy lifestyle and, in particular, healthy eating."
Mr Earnden said: "The day was fantastic, which was as a result of the positive response from pupils, staff and parents. Their involvement really set things up for a great event."
