POLICE in Seaham are appealing for information after a man exposed himself to a 12-year-old girl as she passed his car.
The youngster was walking along Dawdon's Embleton Street, close to its junction with Queen Alexandra Road, on her way to meet a friend, when a man sitting in a parked silver-coloured vehicle indecently exposed himself to her.
The man did not speak to the girl, who was frightened by the incident and ran off.
PC Richard Clark said: "This incident took place at about 3.45pm last Thursday afternoon when there would have been a lot of children and parents about on their way home from school.
"I would appeal to anyone who might have information about what happened to get in touch with us.''
The offender is described as in his late 30s and sun-tanned, with a bald or shaven head. His vehicle may have been a BMW.
Seaham police can be contacted on the non-emergency number 0845 60 60 365.
