CHILDREN at a Darlington primary school have showed off their stitching skills.
A giant tapestry of moles, worms, butterflies and centipedes was hung in the main hall of Mowden Infant School on Friday.
Year two pupils - aged six and seven - created the tapestry, which they based on their favourite animals from the school's wildlife garden. It shows the school in springtime and was created with the help of the Embroiderers' Guild.
Year two teacher Ann Webster said: "We found out by chance that this year is the 100th anniversary of the Embroiderers' Guild, which supported the project by paying for the threads we used.
"All the children in year two took part and it's been a fantastic experience for everyone involved."
Mrs Webster said it was hoped the embroidery project would become an annual event.
