THE organisers of a successful beer festival are looking for worthy causes to benefit from the profits.
At the weekend, Auckland Castle hosted Casks at the Castle, featuring more than 40 beers. The event was organised by the Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor Round Table.
David Fryer, chairman of the tasting panel, said: "It has been a stunning success. The beers were in excellent condition - it's hardly surprising four of the beers had completely sold out by the Friday evening."
Simon Gillespie, chairman of the Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor Round Table, said: "We are very pleased with the outcome. We have over £8,000 in our coffers.
"All we need now are more applications from local charities, clubs and voluntary organisations."
Any organisations interested in applying for funding can contact Mr Gillespie c/o Grand Hotel, Holdforth Crest, Bishop Auckland, Durham, DL14 6DU.
