A FATHER and son are being recognised for their achievements at a Darlington martial arts club.
Terry, 47, and Joshua Doyle, ten, have regularly attended Moore's Ultimate Combat at the Firthmoor Community Centre.
The pair have been given a shield for the best attendance at the club.
The club teaches extreme self-defence and martial arts to children and adults.
Tutor Stephen Moore, who runs the class, devised the martial art himself and describes it as a freestyle combination of many different types of martial arts.
He said: "We have an attendance award every year, but this is the first time a father and son have both won it.
"I'm really pleased for them both.
"We do a lot of work with the Princes Trust and the Duke of Edinburgh award.
"But it's also great for fathers and sons to take part in it and learn a lot more about each other through a common interest."
