PUPILS were shown some exotic moves when a company of Indian dancers visited their school.
Greenfield School Community and Arts College, in Newton Aycliffe, hosted a performance by the Annapurna Indian Dance Company.
After watching the performance of dance, storytelling and drama, performing arts and sports students from years seven and eight took part in a workshop to learn some of the dance moves themselves.
Katy Milne, community arts co-ordinator, said: "The school has been involved in lots of a multi-cultural projects because we want to broaden pupils' minds and help them find out about other places and cultures.
"The Indian dancers taught them what each specific move means and about the gods and how to express themselves. Dancing crosses over the arts and PE curricula. It is also wonderful to give pupils free access to professional performers."
The dance company will perform today at Neville Community Centre, Neville Parade, Newton Aycliffe, at 2pm.
Both events are part of the Elements Touring Scheme to bring professional performers and artists to small venues.
