GEORDIE rock star Sting was spotted Walking In The Toon yesterday as he returned to receive an honorary doctorate of music from his home town university.
The former frontman of The Police will join former police chief Lord John Stevens at an honorary degree ceremony today at Newcastle University.
The pair are among seven leading figures from the arts and sciences to be awarded honorary degrees by university chancellor Lord Patten.
University registrar Dr John Hogan said: "The seven individuals being honoured today, with their many achievements, have contributed to the reputation of Newcastle and the North East as a thriving centre of creativity. The university is honoured that they have accepted our wish to celebrate them."
