BROWNIES have received help from a paramedic to earn their first aid badges.

Ken Nicholas was drafted in by brown owl Sue Price to help the pack in Catterick Village, North Yorkshire.

The group of seven to ten-year-olds gained their first aid and advanced first aid badges.

Mr Nicholas said: "The girls were all really good listeners.

"We covered how the body works, bleeding and fractures, asthma, epilepsy and diabetes. They also practised putting each other into the recovery position."

An extra award was made to Jemma Ellis, who took great interest in the topic.

Mr Nicholas said: "She was really enthusiastic and was always first to try and answer questions."
