A WILDLIFE trust is celebrating after winning support from an energy company.
EDF Energy, which employs more than 1,000 people at its Doxford call centre, in Sunderland, has agreed to make a £5,000 donation to Durham Wildlife Trust.
Volunteers from the company will also work at the trust's Hylton Dene Reserve as part of the firm's Helping Hands employee scheme.
Company spokesman Nigel O'Brien-Bird said: "Working with the trust, a cause close to my own heart, we hope to involve and educate, not just the employees here at Doxford but, hopefully, schools and other local groups."
Richard Wood, Durham Wildlife Trust chief executive, said: "The additional support of £5,000 is a welcome boost and has secured the provision of environmental education at our visitor centres for the coming months."
