YOUNG people from north Durham took part in a fun run over the weekend to raise money to buy sports equipment.
Youth teams of Sacriston Colliery Cricket Club ran around woodland near the village on Saturday to raise money to buy equipment for the club.
It is starting an under-11s club and wants to buy covers for the ground and video equipment to help its youth teams improve their performance.
Twenty-nine young members, aged five to 17, took part in the run.
The under-11s ran one-and-a-quarter miles and those over 11 ran two-and-a-half miles.
Club coach Harry Hubber said: "The fun run was a massive success.
"We have not done anything like it before, so we were quite nervous, but it went really well and was well supported by parents.
"All of the young people seemed to enjoy themselves and we are now looking towards doing this on an annual basis."
The club recently secured £10,000 in funding from various sources and invested in a bowling machine, netting and an artificial pitch.
It is now looking for sponsorship from local businesses and is offering advertising space on its newly-acquired £6,000 perimeter fence.
