FIVE miles of archives dating back to the 13th Century went on show at the weekend.
Visitors were given behind-the-scenes tours of North Yorkshire County Council's records office, in Malpas Road, Northallerton, on Saturday.
Project officer Vicky Hudson was among the experts on hand to offer advice during the open day. The records office has five miles of shelving containing millions of documents on the county's history.
Uses for the information include tracing ancestors and determining property boundaries.
