A charity that provides hospice care will be this year's beneficiary of the Northumbria Police Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament.
After 20 years of fundraising, which has seen more than £350,000 raised for good causes across the region, the Pro-Am committee has chosen St Oswald's Hospice, Newcastle, as the organisation to benefit from the this year's event.
St Oswald's provides hospice care to adults and specialist short breaks to children in a relaxed home-from-home environment. No charge is made for the service, ensuring care is available to everyone, when they need it most.
Pro-Am committee chairman Deputy Chief Constable David Warcup said: "Like our golf tournament, St Oswald's Hospice has been working hard to raise funds for the past 20 years and it seemed appropriate such a worthwhile cause should benefit this year.
"Not only will this be a superb day's golf in magnificent settings, the most important thing is this year's charity will also benefit from the thousands of pounds we raise.
"There is still time for more teams to join us.
"It costs £350 for a team of three and that includes a meal and the help of a professional player for the round."
This year's Pro-Am tournament will be held at Matfen Hall Golf Club, Northumberland, on Thursday, June 29.
