PEOPLE in east Durham can find out more about getting involved in their community at an event this week.
District of Easington Tenants and Residents Federation (DETRF) will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday at Lee House, Upper Yoden Way, Peterlee.
Chairwoman Theresa Taylor will talk about the organisation's achievements over the past year and give details of future projects.
Topics will include the federation's new constitution, which will extend membership to community groups, residents from private housing estates, registered social landlords and other groups.
Ms Taylor said: "The work of DETRF is becoming recognised across the country now, and the more members we have, the bigger our voice in the community."
The event will include a presentation on community involvement by a representative from Hartlepool Housing and displays from contractors.
The event, which is supported by East Durham Homes and District of Easington Council, will run from 10am to 1pm and includes a buffet lunch.
