STUDENTS and staff from two Newcastle schools will celebrate their centenary at a service.
Sacred Heart Catholic High School and Sacred Heart RC Primary School are marking their 100-year histories with a Mass, which will be celebrated by the Very Reverend Kevin Dunn, Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle.
To accommodate the 1,550 pupils, 155 members of staff and governors and invited guests, the Mass is being held at the City Hall, in Newcastle.
Patricia Wager, headteacher at Sacred Heart, in Fenham, Newcastle, said: "This is a unique occasion, when it will be wonderful for all of the students and staff to be able to come together.
"We owe a great deal of gratitude to the very many outstanding teachers and headteachers over the years who have brought the gift of an excellent education and helped so many thousands of young people to grow into happy and successful adults."
The Mass will take place on Friday, at 1.30pm.
