HEALTH chiefs are on the lookout for cadet nurses.
Tees and North-East Yorkshire NHS Trust wants to recruit ten 18 to 23-year-olds to work with people with learning disabilities.
During their first six months probation, the cadets will be expected to complete an NVQ level two in health and social care, and key skills level two in literacy and numeracy. On successful completion, cadets will be offered a further 18 months training to complete the course up to NVQ level three.
Trust officials say cadets can then be fast-tracked into the second year of a three-year learning disability diploma, subject to successful application to the University of Teesside.
This in turn could lead to a job as a staff nurse, on completion of a nurse training course. Applicants should have good communication skills and have gained GCSEs grade A-C, in maths and English.
