TWO schoolboys are celebrating after winning scholarships to Ampleforth College.
Christopher Holmes and Patrick Faulkner, both 13, are pupils at Aysgarth School, near Bedale.
Christopher has won an academic scholarship. He has attended Aysgarth since the age of three and now sings in the senior choir, plays the violin and has played in the rugby and football first teams.
Patrick has won a Basil Hume Award, an all-round scholarship for candidates of a high academic calibre with a strong commitment to extra-curricular activities.
He plays in the rugby, football and cricket first teams and was head boy last term. He is also a talented golf player and won the under-ten category at the annual national independent prep schools golf championship, at the age of nine.
