COUSINS Caroline Bradley and Joanne Vest are staging a series of events to fund an emotional expedition to Peru.
The duo, both aged 27 and from Durham, hope to join the trek, following the Inca trail through the Andean foothills, being staged by UK Cancer Research, in May.
But they need to raise £4,000 each to cover the cost of the trip of a lifetime.
It will be ten years to the month that Caroline's younger sister, Katrina, died from a brain tumour, at the age of 15, and the cousins have dedicated recent months to their fundraising drive.
Their latest events will be staged this weekend, starting with a coffee afternoon, at St Nicholas Church, in the Market Place, Durham, on Saturday, from noon to 4pm.
It includes home-made soups, hot dogs and other refreshments.
The second fundraiser is a shopping and pampering night, at the Louisa Centre, Stanley, on Sunday, from 6pm.
It will feature angel therapy and reflexology, plus clothing, jewellery, photographic, craft and book stalls.
Admission is £1 for adults, payable at the door.
Further information on the events, or the trip, is available on (07779) 275870.
