A SPECIALIST team at a North Yorkshire hospital has won a prestigious nursing award.
The neurology service at St Katherine's, in Scarborough, has won a major award at the Palliative Care Awards 2006.
Specialist neurology nurse Rebecca Haughty attended the ceremony at London's Savoy Hotel to receive the award.
The team won the Non-Cancer Symptom Management Award for the work it does in helping patients with motor neurone disease.
They were presented with an engraved glass trophy, a commemorative plaque, plus a cheque for £500 to be used for furthering the work of the hospice.
"I'm very proud of the neurology team and very proud of the hospice for the work we do in palliative care," said Rebecca.
"The hospice was very forward-thinking in having a neurology palliative care service and it has worked very well."
