DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Lee Phipps have carried out a reconstruction of his final movements.
They hope it will jog the memory of key witnesses who can fill in some of the gaps of Mr Phipps' last journey before he died in South Shields on March 2.
Detective Superintendent Steve Wade, who is leading the investigation, said: "We know Lee left his home in King George Road at 4.16pm on the afternoon of March 2, having told his mother he was going to take pictures of Cleadon Hills in the snow.
"CCTV footage clearly shows Lee leaving the house with his camera bag on his back and walking along King George Road towards the roundabout with Shields Road.
"At 4.29pm he took a phone call from his mother as he walked up the Ash Path and at 5.19pm he was found dead outside 35 Cleadon Hill Road."
Det Supt Wade said it was likely that after leaving his house and walking towards Shields Road roundabout he turned left up the Ash Path, as that would have been the most direct route to Cleadon Hills. He added: "But we don't know that for sure - he could have used any one of the interconnecting side streets."
"The aim is to jog people's memories - we still have no positive sighting of Lee between those two points."
Witnesses can call 0191-454 7555 ext 65085 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
