PUPILS got a taste of African culture yesterday with a day-long dance workshop.
A professional dancer was at St Nicholas Primary School, in West Tanfield, near Ripon, to teach the youngsters how to move to a beat.
Pupils wrote music in the afternoon before they performed in front of the rest of the school.
The workshop was part of a week of events with an African theme.
Later this week, pupils will be able to try African art and eat a typical African lunch.
Headteacher Julia Bailey said: "The children learnt two dances and talked about the music and the beat.
"They all thoroughly enjoyed the day."
