NURSERY youngsters have been given a treat with a visit from their MP.
Bishop Auckland MP Helen Goodman was given a guided tour of Byerley Road Pre-School Nursery, in Shildon, where she shared tea with the children.
She then offered help and advice to the pre-school bosses about medium-term funding.
She said: "I think it is essential that small children have a wide variety of play experiences.
"As families are getting smaller it is really important for the children to socialise in groups."
Susan Calvert, who owns the pre-school, said: "We invited Helen here so that she could see what we have to offer, and I am delighted she accepted our invitation. It shows that she has an interest in what is going on."
