PLANS for improvements to Darlington borough's transport network will come under the spotlight next month.
The second local transport plan will be considered next month. It outlines developments for the coming year designed to tackle congestion, encourage more environmentally friendly travel and improve roads, footpaths and cycleways.
Among schemes planned are junction improvements, residents' parking zones, work on bus stops, new cycle lanes, street lighting, bridge strengthening and pedestrian crossing upgrades.
Darlington Borough Council has received £2.7m from the Government for the schemes, with £78,000 of that a bonus because of the authority's performance on its first transport plan.
At a meeting on Tuesday, April 4, councillors will be asked to release funds to allow work to begin.
