TEENAGERS have battled it out in a golf championship to raise money for charity.
The winner of the contest, at Stressholme Golf Club, was Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College.
The runner-up was Richmond Golf Club. Hurworth School, near Darlington, came third, but raised the most money for the British Heart Foundation.
Because the Hurworth School trio -Anthony Verity, 14, Jonathan Weeks, 15, and Nicky Gardner, 14 -raised £1,000 for the charity, they will qualify for the next round of the British Heart Foundation Junior Golf Championship, in June.
The contest lets promising young golfers play on some of the best courses in the country.
Now in its 13th year, it is the only national golf competition open to anyone under 18, and has raised more than £1.2m for the charity.
