WOMEN are being given the opportunity to learn how to pole dance at a charity event to raise money for people with learning disabilities.
It will be one of the taster sessions on offer at the Girls' Night Out event at Derwent Manor, at Allensford, near Consett.
Ladies will also be able to sample lap dancing and belly dancing as well learn about massage, holistic therapies and modern fitness techniques.
There will also be a fashion show featuring a collection of work of the Mao Couture company, and money raised will be donated to Mencap.
Organiser Mary Kennedy said: "The essence of the night is that it is going to be a chance for therapy and indulgence. People will be able to try something they never have before.
"It is aimed at giving girls a really good night out, as well as raising money for a good cause.
"About 2,000 babies a year are born with learning difficulties in the North-East, and Mencap helps 52,000 people a year.
"All of the money raised will stay in this region."
The event is from 7pm to 9.30pm on Thursday. Tickets are £5, on (01207) 599764.
