VOLUNTEERS are needed to help build on the success of an existing rural youth service.
Six volunteers working from Evenwood Community Centre have already staged a number of youth events.
The events came after securing £40,000 funding, but further help is required to offer more activities to young people in the area.
Volunteer Kirsty Cooper said events are based on the requests of the youngsters that use the service.
She added: "We run a monthly cinema club and have arts and crafts sessions, and we are also looking at opening a cyber cafe.
"Every event we have has been full, so there is definitely a demand for it.
"We just need more help so we can offer more."
SureStart provides training for volunteers which can lead to a nationally recognised qualification.
