A PRESTIGIOUS national boxing competition comes to Weardale for the first time this evening.
The final of the Golden Gloves championship - formerly the Junior ABA - will be held at Wolsingham School's sports hall from 7pm.
On show will be some of the brightest young boxers in the country, including members of Spennymoor Boxing Club, many of whom are tipped for big careers in the sport.
The championships have been brought to Wolsingham thanks to a partnership between Weardale Boxing Academy and Middlesbrough Boxing Academy.
Peter McPartland, from the Weardale club, said: "I hope the people of Weardale and the surrounding areas turn out in force to make sure that we can bring this competition back in the future."
Tickets cost £10 on the door and there will be hot food and a licensed bar.
