YOUNG pupils at a Durham school are preparing to go on stage with one of Hans Christian Andersen's favourite tales.
The curtain will go up on a production of The Emperor's New Clothes at Bow School, Durham, tonight.
The whole of the school's years three and four will be involved in the presentation, which will begin in the Adamson Hall at 6.30pm.
The play, which is set to music, is the most ambitious stage show the eight to nine-year-olds have staged.
While staff and students have been beavering away to ensure a night to remember, many parents have been drafted in to produce the host of costumes needed for the 26-strong cast.
For although the emperor's new clothes - which don't exist in the story - have required no stitching, many other outfits have had to be made or hired.
To attend the performance, which will feature Lewis Strawbridge in the leading role, contact the school on 0191-384 8233.
