PLANS by Knaresborough Celtic Football Club to move to a site at Thistle Hill, Knaresborough, look set to be refused. The club has applied for permission to build a pavilion and 50-space car park alongside six football pitches. Planning officers at Harrogate Borough Council have recommended refusal because the proposed site is green belt land.
DOMINO DRIVE: The Black Swan MS Group will hold its next domino drive at Northallerton Cricket Club on Farndale Avenue on Monday, starting at 7.30pm. Entry costs £1.50 per person. There will be a raffle and snacks at half-time. The last event, in February, raised £105 for the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Middlesbrough.
DANCE CHAMP: Talented dancer Megan Danby, from Pickering, beat off the challenge from 28 other competitors to take first place in the Yorkshire Modern Junior Championships. The 12-year-old, a pupil at Lady Lumley's School, has been honing her skills at Malton's Kirkham Henry Performing Arts Centre since she was two.
MOTHER'S DAY: Flowers will be presented to all mums attending a special family service at Richmond Pentecostal Church, in Victoria Road, Richmond, from 11am to noon, on Sunday.
CHARITY FUNDS: A coffee morning in aid of the Wilf Ward Family Trust - which helps disabled people in the area - is being held at the Isabella Court respite centre run by the trust in Westgate, Pickering, on Saturday, between 10am and noon.
MAYOR'S BALL: Tickets are still available for Richmond Mayor's Ball. The theme of the event at Richmond Station from 7.30pm on Friday is the Orient Express. Tickets cost £27.50 from Richmond Town Hall on (01748) 850808.
HELMET STOLEN: A silver trials bike helmet was stolen from an unlocked porch at a farm in Marske, Swaledale, between Wednesday and Friday last week.
LIVE MUSIC: Local jazz and blues band Blueskies will perform at the King's Head Hotel, in Richmond, on Saturday from 8pm. Admission is free.
